Youth in Action Texas/Peru: Youth Engaged in International Community Service Youth leadership training consisted of one week visit to Chiclayo for Texas and Viña Vieja youth for leadership training and cultural exchange. Youth were provided homestay with ICPNA youth and families. Visits to historic sites along with activities that developed self-esteem, acknowledge roles of leaders, team building and CPR.
The second week consisted of Texas youth and Chiclayo youth visiting Viña Vieja to work on service learning projects of rebuilding the basketball court and community center.

Viña Vieja: Rebuilding a Stronger Community through Partnerships
In 2007 Peru was hit by a devastating earthquake that demolished the small rural community of Viña Vieja. TPOA committed to helping rebuild the community by developing a partnership with the community and several organizations. Since 2007 the school, community kitchen and the clinic have been rebuilt. Several student volunteer groups such as Engineers without Boarders and Nursing students have visited the small community of the years.
The current project is bringing portable water to the community that had been headed by the student chapter of Engineers without Boarders at the University of Texas-San Antonio.
