Texas-Bolivia COVID-19 Relief Fund:

According to Johns Hopkins CSSE data from September 19, 2020, Bolivia has 130,051 positive cases of COVID-19 and 7,550 deaths. Thus, ranking Bolivia as the 27th country worldwide and as the 5th country in South America to have the highest number of COVID-19 cases.

We are organizing this relief fund in solidarity with Bolivians because there is a current lack of materials and resources—as the positive cases of COVID-19 continue to increase there is a consistent shortage of medications, lack of adequate oxygen respirators for Bolivia’s altitude, lack of essential PPE equipment, among other essentials that Bolivians are in dire need of to stay safe during these times.

Through this relief fund, we will provide local relief to Bolivian communities in the cities of La Paz, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, and Beni. We cannot do this work alone—we need your support!

TPOA is a role model non-profit organization dedicated to connecting, serving and changing lives in order to realize the full potential of the people in the Americas. We empower communities and individuals via transfer of knowledge and skills, while upholding their cultural values.

Texas-Bolivia COVID-19 Relief Fund Committee:

In our organization, we believe in centering the people most impacted by the problems we face and giving them space to lead. Leading this effort are Bolivian diasporas, leaders located in Bolivia, Europe, and the United States who represent a wide-array of professions/roles and who represent all of the cities we are going to distribute in, and are coming together to support Bolivians combat this pandemic not just through this relief fund but also by creating sustainable long-lasting efforts in the form of capacity building trainings for organizing leaders and technical trainings for Doctors and Medical staff working on the front lines.

We know that this work needs to continue beyond this relief fund, and in order to do so we believe in the power of building community power through access to knowledge and resources.

Our goal is to raise at least $200,000 and it will be used to help cover:

Being on the ground and talking to our community members directly, we have been able to identify what the needs are. In the midst of COVID-19, Bolivia is also fighting majorforest fires in the tropical savannas of the Chiquitania regions in the eastern region of Bolivia.

We know there are many needs as families who do not have adequate health care, access to medications even from private pharmacies, and that doctors do not have the oxygen respirators they need or the personal protection equipment to properly care for patients who have the coronavirus.

How will we manage the funds transparently and responsibly?

All donations are to be sent to the official bank account of the Texas Chapter of Partners of the Americas to Iliana Queirolo de Diaz, President. We will keep track of all of the receipts from all of the medications, oxygen respirators, PPE equipment, etc. that we purchase as well as show pictures of the actual items pre, during, and post distribution.

Additionally, we will complete an official final report, detailing the items we were able to purchase, who they were distributed, and how many people they were able to impact.

Please share, donate, and spread the word with your friends and family—we need as much support as possible!

Also, please feel free to reach out to us directly at txboliviacovid19@gmail.com if you have any questions! Muchas gracias, Thank you so much!

With gratitude and hope,
